Hello lovely readers! 💫

If you’ve been told you have PCOS, prediabetes, or “borderline sugar,” and no one has explained why your body feels stuck, this blog is for you.

At NutriSoul, we meet many clients who are tired, gaining weight around the belly, and craving sweets, while their reports still look “normal.” Very often, the missing piece is insulin resistance.

We have helped clients reverse PCOD, DIABETES & insulin resistance. To book your appointment- https://calendly.com/nutrisoul-ra/nutriconsult?month

💚What Is Insulin Resistance?

Insulin is a hormone that helps glucose move from your blood into your cells for energy. In insulin resistance, your cells stop responding well to it. Your pancreas compensates by making more insulin, and this can go on for years before blood sugar rises. That’s why fasting glucose can look normal while the problem is already underway.

Common signs:

1.Constant fatigue, especially after meals.

2.Strong sugar or carb cravings.

3.Weight gain around the abdomen.

4.Dark, velvety patches on the neck or underarms.

5.Irregular periods, acne, or excess facial and body hair.

🌸The PCOS Connection

Research suggests a large share of women with PCOS have some degree of insulin resistance, even at a healthy weight. High insulin signals the ovaries to make more androgens (male hormones). This can disrupt ovulation and cause acne, hair changes, and irregular cycles. Insulin resistance can also make weight loss harder, which is frustrating for many women.

🌟The Diabetes Connection

If insulin resistance continues, the pancreas eventually struggles to keep up, and blood sugar starts rising. First comes prediabetes, then possibly type 2 diabetes. Women with PCOS have a higher risk of developing diabetes, so early awareness matters. The good news is that this stage is often reversible with the right lifestyle support.

🥗What Helps

1.Build balanced plates: Pair carbs with protein and fiber, such as dal with sabzi, or besan chilla with curd, instead of carbs alone.

2.Choose slow carbs: Millets, oats, whole pulses, and whole grains over refined flour and sugary drinks.

3.Walk after meals: Even 10 to 15 minutes helps muscles use glucose.

4.Strength train: More muscle means better glucose uptake.

5.Sleep and stress: Poor sleep and high cortisol worsen insulin resistance.

6.Skip crash diets: Extreme restriction often backfires hormonally.

🌿 Takeaway

Insulin resistance isn’t a life sentence, and it isn’t about cutting out everything you love. It’s about supporting your body’s signals with the right food, movement, and rest. Because PCOS and diabetes risk are closely linked, getting the right tests (fasting insulin, HbA1c, HOMA-IR) and personalised guidance early can protect your long-term health. Please don’t start or stop any medication on your own.
